Make Your Own Word Scramble for Kids

Create three original word scrambles for a friend. The clues and mixed-up letters go on the puzzle above the fold; keep your original words on the private answer strip below it.

Try one three-letter word

Start with WAX. Rearrange its three letters into XAW and give the clue “A soft material in many crayons.” A friend can rearrange X, A and W to find WAX. This is an original example, not an answer from a published sheet.

To make your own, write three answers in the private strip first. Scramble each answer one letter at a time: use every letter exactly once, including repeats. If your word has two O's, its jumble needs two O's too. Write a clue that points to your intended word.

Check before sharing

Count the letters in each answer and jumble; check repeated letters match. Fold the private strip behind the sheet. Ask a friend to solve using your clues, then compare with your private answers. If a clue fits a different word too, make it more specific and try again.

Fold this strip back along the dashed line above before sharing. Write the three original words here, not in the puzzle table.
