Origami: Heart
A classic, kid-friendly origami project — no scissors or glue needed, just one square sheet of paper. Print this page for step-by-step folding instructions.
- Start with a square sheet of paper, colored side up, turned like a diamond with one corner pointing up. Fold the top corner down to the bottom corner to make a triangle, then unfold — this crease is just a center guide.
- Fold the left and right corners in to meet the center vertical crease, narrowing the diamond into a kite shape with a point at the bottom.
- Fold the top edge down so it lines up with the horizontal center of the kite, making the paper noticeably shorter at the top.
- Fold the top two triangular flaps down and gently curl their outer tips outward, rounding them into the heart’s two lobes.
- Fold the bottom point up and slightly under itself, rounding off the heart’s base instead of leaving it sharply pointed.
- Flip the paper over — you now have a flat, symmetric paper heart with two rounded lobes at the top and a soft point at the bottom.
