Origami: Paper Hat
A classic, kid-friendly origami project — no scissors or glue needed, just one rectangular sheet of paper. Print this page for step-by-step folding instructions.
- Start with a rectangular sheet of paper (a sheet of newspaper works great for a hat you can actually wear). Fold it in half from top to bottom so the long edges meet.
- Fold it in half again from left to right just to make a center crease, then unfold — this crease is only a guide to find the middle.
- Fold the two top corners down so they meet at the center crease, making a point at the top like a triangle roof.
- You will have a strip of paper left along the bottom. Fold the front layer of that strip up over the base of the triangle.
- Turn the paper over and fold the back bottom strip up the same way, so both brims match.
- Open the bottom of the hat and shape it — now it is ready to pop onto your head.
