Origami: Envelope
A classic, kid-friendly paper-folding project — no scissors or glue needed, just one square sheet of paper. Print this page for step-by-step folding instructions.
- Start with a square sheet of paper, colored side down, turned like a diamond with one corner pointing up. Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner, then unfold — this crease is just a center guide.
- Fold the left and right corners in to meet the center vertical crease, narrowing the diamond into a kite/house shape.
- Fold the bottom point up so it reaches about two-thirds of the way to the top point, creating the envelope’s back pocket.
- Fold the two side points in over that pocket so their tips overlap slightly in the middle.
- Fold the top point down over the folded sides to make the envelope flap, tucking its tip snugly into the pocket to hold everything closed.
- Flip the paper over — you now have a flat, sealed paper envelope ready to slip a small note or gift card inside.
