Easy Waffles
Crisp-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside waffles from scratch, made in a home waffle iron.

Ingredients
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1¾ cups milk
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat the waffle iron according to its instructions.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

In another bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla together.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined - a few small lumps are fine.

Lightly grease the hot waffle iron.

Pour batter onto the center of the iron (amount depends on your iron's size) and close the lid.

Cook until golden and crisp, usually 3-5 minutes - check your waffle iron's indicator light or timer.

Carefully remove and repeat with the remaining batter.

Serve warm with fruit, syrup, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
Kids can help with:
- Whisking the dry ingredients together
- Whisking the wet ingredients together
- Adding toppings like fruit or syrup once the waffles are plated (an adult handles the hot waffle iron)
Tips & Notes
- An adult should always handle pouring batter into and removing waffles from a hot iron.
- Leftover waffles freeze well - pop them in the toaster for a quick reheat another day.
