Origami: Paper Airplane

A classic, kid-friendly paper-folding project — no scissors or glue needed, just one rectangular sheet of paper. Print this page for step-by-step folding instructions.

  1. Step 1 diagramStart with a rectangular sheet of paper held tall (portrait). Fold it in half from left to right, then unfold — this center crease is just a guide.
  2. Step 2 diagramFold the top two corners down to meet the center crease, so the top of the paper comes to a point.
  3. Step 3 diagramFold that new pointed tip down so it meets the bottom edge of the angled folds you just made.
  4. Step 4 diagramFold the top edges in again along the center crease, tucking the folded tip underneath, to sharpen the nose.
  5. Step 5 diagramFold the whole plane in half along the center crease, then fold down each side to form the wings, leaving a narrow strip along the bottom as the body. Open the wings out level and it’s ready to fly.
