About this worksheet

Two rectangles can have the same area but different perimeters, or the same perimeter but different areas. Finding both measures for each rectangle shows that area and perimeter measure different things: the space inside and the distance around.

Every worksheet mixes pairs with the same area and different perimeters with pairs that have the same perimeter and different areas, so children cannot assume that a larger shape always has a longer boundary.

Print a student sheet, then choose “Show answer key” to print the matching answers. Choose “New worksheet” for another version; the answer key always follows the version on screen.

Practice aligned to CCSS 3.MD.D.8.
