Battleship Coordinates: Printable Practice
Before playing Battleship, practice calling a square by its row letter first, then its column number. This original mini-grid has five rows (A-E) and five columns (1-5). The real printable Battleship board has ten rows (A-J) and ten columns (1-10).
Find the called squares
For example, A1 is where row A meets column 1. Find each call below and place a small dot in its square. An adult has a secret practice ship on a separate key; ask whether each call is a hit or a miss after you mark it. Do not draw a ship on this learner grid.

Record your calls
Say each coordinate aloud, mark the grid, then ask the adult to announce hit or miss.

Make a fourth call of your own: ________. How did you find its row and column?
Adults: open the separate practice ship and answer key (spoilers). When ready, print the full Battleship board or browse more games and activities. This practice ship is not another player's hidden ship.
